Jose Miguel Castaño _ _ _ ______ First Guide

He was born in Santiago of Chile on September , 14th of 1968. When he was maybe 15 years old began his attraction for outdoor life, after many fishing excursions with his brother Francisco in the south of chile, at the Villarica area, it was when fishing caught him strongly, activity that became in fun for him with the time. As well as his brother, he moved to live with his family for two years in Costa Rica, Central America. In his childhood most time studied at “Andree English School “in Santiago of Chile. Later in the Institute of Inacap studied mechanics. After that, he works in a socks & pantyhose factory for 10 years. Working for this company -Moletto Company- had to make many business trips to Italy, some of these trips were good way to know another countries of Europe, this was a experience that he never forgot. For Jose …the experience with his brother was really important in his life as fly fisher and after to help him in keeping “Tres Piedras” his experience and interest grew up a lot, now he is truly interested in perfecting his knowledge in this art-science.

In the beginning of this century he left his job in Santiago and started a new life with his family, they moved to Puerto Varas. He had 4 years of training to become in a commercial pilot, he also has been developing a business of the education area with his wife and as it was mentioned before supporting some part of the TresPiedras operation. After all this , he starts working professionally in this activity with Francisco's support. Now he is trainee guide and last year guided some of the customers of Trespiedras. In spite of he is trainee guide, he gets quickly the affection of the clients, his humor and entertained way of telling jokes are one of his better aptitudes. There is no way to be boring with him.

Aside fly fishing Jose has another big interest, he loves “flying airplanes “also he practices tennis and photography. In the past he liked skiing too. Jose is married and has two kids.
