Chilean Patagonia the most untouched region in the world

Aside to be one of the most untouched places on the earth, this area has so many places with fantastic fishing that we think it is without doubt one of the most remarkable areas for trout fishing with dry flies in the entire world.

Pumalin Park

There are rivers and lakes to go for dry fly fishing , catching big rainbows. Browns are also big fish in the rivers nymphing or using streamers. Fishing places are around 40 minutes driving or navigating the Reñihue fiord.

Beauty of this park amazes, redwood forest everywhere, mountains of beautiful shapes in the most remote place of the region. This place offers many other options to do, like trekking, hiking, nature farming sample or just resting and enjoying the untouched nature.

Cottages of Pumalin Park -picture on the right- were made in great taste with fine and authentic decoration, and more important thing, it is a comfortable place to stay. With traditional local cooking this place is one of the most interesting places to visit in all western Patagonia.

Yelcho, the glaciers region.

This is the place for mosnter rainbows taking dry flies on the surface, it is in lake and Yelcho River. We stay here in the Río Yelcho lodge-watch picture of the right- it's near to one of the best rivers of all entire country, this lodge offers to the fly fishermen a real local experience with also fine decoration and comfortable cottages, Chilean "parrilladas" and much more. This place has for sure the best dry fly fishing in the country, where is possible to catch huge rainbows in the lake. Using small dry patterns in the river is possible to catch big rainbows and also browns. Streamers are the flies for catching big and strong browns in the amazing Yelcho river. Fishing places are between 10 minutes and one hour driving.

This area is also a remote place with countless views to different glaciers, mountains, Yelcho lake and millennial forests.

Futaleufu Valley

This is one of the most beautiful valleys of the country, it is surrounded of peaks, forests, rivers, streams, small lakes, lagoons and some farms. It is also where the Andes mountains get into the Pampa in the east part of Chilean Patagonia, features that makes to this valley pretty unique. Climate and landscapes could make to think this is a location a hundred of miles away from western Patagonia, but it isn't, it is pretty close to Yelcho Lake area.

We stay here at Confluencias lodge in mid of the most pretty farm of the region. In summer time is possible to taste raspberries, strawberries among many other vegetals right in the moment of the harvest, all those will be used for preparing their wonderful cooking .

This lodge is located inside of this organized farm of the region. It has wonderful decoration made with good taste, its gardens full of flowers and its building will make you to feel like in the earthly paradise. Each detail has been thought and service quality is maybe in the highest level you can find in the region.

Fishing places are so close as 15 or 30 minutes driving, Futaleufu and Espolon rivers, Lonconao, and Espolon lakes among many others. Dry fly fishing takes the fishers to best success in almost all spots and conditions. In Futaleufu also is possible to catch browns using wet and streamers flies.

Lake District of Chile, the South American Switzerland

Puerto Pilar

In the south part of Lake District area, called by many people the Chilean Switzerland for its resemblance to that country, there it is Puerto Pilar Lodge a perfect place to enjoy your fishing trip, it is where we stay in this area, this lodge is located close to Ensenada, it is right on the highway between that location and the famous tourist city of Puerto Varas. It has all the comfort that fly fishers need.

Puerto Pilar is attended by the owners which give to our guests their maximum efforts to make them to feel like home. The lodge is on the bank of the Llanquihue lake, and has wonderful views to the lake as well as to Osorno Volcano, this due to its shape it is for sure one of the most beautiful mountains in its class in the world. Close to almost all fishing places this lodge is perfect for doing three days of fishing in the Lake District.

Here we go fishing to the famous Petrohue and Maullin rivers, Todos los Santos lake, even some times to Puelo river among several other good spots of the area. Of course it's possible to stay more than 3 days to fish the region, there are many good fishing spots to go in the months of November , December, February and March. In April, average size of the fish goes up but they get harder to catch. In January fishing is maybe on the peak, but there is a troublesome insect that makes the fishing pretty uncomfortable.
